Distribution Transformer can also be categorized in other parameters like OFF Load Type (OCTC/OCKT) and ON Load (OLTC). Where OFF Load is used where there is very low voltage fluctuation from the grid (11kV/22kV/33kV) then you can use OFF Load Type Transformers. If there is a very high Voltage Fluctuation from the Grid (11kV/22kV/33kV) then you should go for ON Load (OLTC). ON Load Tap Changer can Change Voltage during the loading condition of your Factory/Plant. Where the OFF Load Transformer Can Not Change Voltage during loading conditions you must shut down your plant and then you can change voltage. The ON Load Transformer can automatically change the voltage that you have set in the relay between ranges. If you are using an ON Load Tap changer then you should regularly check the counter of the tap changer. This counter shows how many times the transformer changed the tap.
